HELEN HILDRETH CURTIS's Obituary
Helen Curtis, long time resident of San Bernardino, went to be with the Lord on January 24, 2008. Helen celebrated her 90th birthday 11-22-2007. She was born in Blackwell, OK, into a family of 12 children. In 1940 Helen and her husband Mel Curtis, came to CA in their 1932 Chevy. Mel & Helen owned & operated Mel Curtis Electric in San Bernardino. Helen worked for J. E. Spain Shoes in the Harris Co. The family attended San Bernardino First Assembly of God Church for many years. Mel & Helen have enjoyed boating at Lake Mead, R.V.ing & spending time in Oklahoma, collecting antiques & restoring a 1897 Santa Fe Railroad Depot. The Curtis’ celebrated their 69th anniversary. She is survived by her husband, Mel; daughter Janice Norris & husband Ted; son Gary Curtis & wife Carol; granddaughter Shannon & husband Rodney; granddaughter Shellie Friesen; grandson Greg Norris & wife Yvette and grandson Gary Norris; great grandchildren, Jared, Hannah & Brady Norris; Emily & Davis Friesen and Mark Mihalkovitz. Helen is survived by 3 sisters, Sue Ellis of San Bernardino; Bess Adkins of Ponca City, OK; and Doris Lamkin of Tulsa, OK. She was definitely a homemaker and the enthusiastic spirit of this family. She will be greatly missed. Services will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 11:00 am at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Avenue, San Bernardino. Interment will be private at Montecito Memorial Park in Colton.
