Born to Alfons and Katharina Messingschlager in Bamberg, Germany, June 23rd, 1936. At the age of 14, while attending school, Hans became an apprentice typsetter. He always liked traveling, and as a youth, he traveled with his friends throughout Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, and Switzerland by motorcycle and bicycle.
In 1952, Hans was 21 and decided to immigrate to Canada. He landed a job in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Canada, in the gold mining industry. After one year as a gold miner, he traveled with his friend across Canada to British Columbia and back to Ontario, Canada. He then worked for Dennisons Nuclear Fuels Corporation in Elliot Lake, Ontario, Canada, as a miner.
In 1960, he traveled from Canada down the East Coast across the U.S.A. to Grants, New Mexico. Hans worked for Kermack's Nuclear Fuels Corporation for less than one year when he received a draft notice. He then decided to join the U.S. Air Force and served for 4 years. After basic training at Lakeland Air Force Base, he was stationed at George Air Force Base, California. Hans retired from Kaiser Steel in Fontana and from the City of San Bernardino, California.
Hans and his wife, Mary, were married in 1984. They enjoyed traveling to many parts of the world. Also, camping and RVing were special to him.
