I worked with Guen for two years at the U of R, and I was so happy for her when she had her daughter. Guen had a great, kind, caring soul. She was thoughtful, committed to fairness, a true believer in God, and she possessed a inspiring optimism. The community really lost a beautiful person in Guen. I didn't know Guen personally, but I spoke to her a couple of times on the phone, as I transitioned into the CARA Treasurer's job that she had held previously. From seeing the pictures of her and her daughter Libby on the website, I can only imagine what a loss her passing has been to her family and friends.

I am so very sad to hear of Guen’s passing. While President of the California Advancement Researchers Association, I asked Guen to fill our open Treasurer’s position. I knew her to be a consummate professional and very hard worker. Always eager to fulfill her duties, she moved our organization forward, making carefully considered suggestions and documenting policies. I truly valued her opinions. I know what a struggle she had during her pregnancy and how important her family was to her. Her passing is a tremendous loss and she will be greatly missed. I knew Guen through work with the CARA board (professional association for work). She was always such a conscientious, hard worker -- always one to think carefully and thoughtfully before offering opinions. I carpooled with her to CARA board meetings and enjoyed hearing about her friends and family and, at that time, about her plans to start a family - which was central to everything for her.
