Gregory Alan Pope's Obituary
Dad was born to Fred George Pope and Annetta Colleen Allen on January 16th 1950 weighing in at a perfect 7 pounds and 7 ounces in Inglewood, California at Inglewood Woman’s Hospital.
Our grandparents settled in the city of Fontana where Dad and his younger sister Nedra were raised. Both graduated High School at FoHi, with Dad graduating with the class of 1969. His high school sweetheart was my Mom, Karen Marie Luther. And after a brief separation after dad graduated and moved to Doheney Beach to surf and “live the good life” he returned to Fontana not long after and Mom and Dad married. It was 1972 and the photos of their Mission Inn nuptials still make us smile.
Many of you know Dads Father Fred spent his life in the car business just as Dad did. I guess you can say it’s in our family blood and we all still share a love of cars to this day!
Grandpa Fred played an instrumental role in the opening of Crest Chevrolet in San Bernardino with his good friend, Mr. Bill Bader in the late 1960’s. And, after Dad spent a couple of years working as a chef at Rosina’s Italian Café in Fontana he then began working at Crest also. Dad sold cars-and he was pretty good at it too. He was funny and charismatic but most importantly-he knew all about Chevy Cars! and his customers appreciated that.
When Joy and I were very young, Our family moved from Fontana to East Highland in the late 1970’s, where we lived for many years.
After family dynamics changed, Dad stayed living in Highland, working for Crest and we moved with Mom to the mountains.
Dad met Patty in the late 1980’s and married shortly after. They lived a beautiful fun-filled life together for more than 3 decades. Patty was dads soulmate-No doubt! They both dedicated and lived their lives making one another very happy.
Because of Patty coming into our life, we gained one BIG HUGE happy family ourselves-one in which Dad was so blessed and proud to be a part of.
After Patty’s passing in 2021 Dad moved back to Bullhead, Arizona where he was living that good life once again. Bullhead was Dad’s fulltime residence upon his passing having suffered a stroke on June 13th of this year.
Dad is survived by his sister Nedra. Nephews Preston and Parker,
His two children: myself, Jason and my wife Brenda and our daughters: Kaylee and Britt.
My sister Joy and Husband Brian and their two children: Cheyanne and Ryder Rutz, and many many beloved sister and brother-in-laws and great life-long friends.
