GRANVILLE "CHUCK" JONES's Obituary
Granville “Chuck” Jones, 79, a resident of Highland, passed away at Jerry Pettis Memorial Veterans Hospital, August 28, 2009.
A native of Berkeley, Chuck served in the US Air Force for 28 years, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1975 and then retired from Sears in 1987.
He owned and operated Universal Training Center in Highland until 2006, where he taught and mentored his students in many aspects of life. Chuck was a very special man who touched many lives and will be greatly missed. He was an active member with the American Legion 421 and Eagles Aerie 506 for many years. One of his many community contributions was leading the Color Guard in the Highland 4th of July Parade.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary Jo; 13 children and step-children, 28 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. “Papa, keep getting those holes-in-one and stay away from the 7-10 splits.”
A viewing will be held, Thursday, September 3, at 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Avenue. Military services with honors will be held, Friday, September 4, at 1:45 p.m., staging area # 4, at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA.
