Mr Gordon Boyd Barney's Obituary
Gordon Boyd Barney, 75, passed away on December 6, 2014 in San Bernardino, CA. Gordon was born in Monroe, Utah to Boyd and La Vee (Flossie) Barney. He grew up in Utah and Nevada and graduated from White Pines High School in Ely, Nevada. He was a United States Marine. He married Barbara Graves in 1959, for life. He attended Valley College and earned his AA in 1961. Gordon worked for the US Postal Service and then at the County of San Bernardino, Department of Public Works, where he retired as 'Utilities Coordinator' in 1998. He also was a real estate agent.
Gordon enjoyed backpacking in the High Sierras, camping and fishing. He taught himself to play the guitar and loved guitar music. He won many championships at chili and stew cook-offs. He met with a group, weekly for beer tasting and enjoyed making his own beer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Marvin Barney and sister Dorothy Brockovich.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Barney and three daughters, Katrina (Tom) Johnson, Renee (Robert) Urquidez, and Gail (Fred) Joe all of San Bernardino, eight grandchildren, his brothers Royal (Peggy) Barney, Rodney (Carol) Barney, Douglas Barney and his sister Rena Ellis.
