Mrs. Geraldine "Geri" Bernard's Obituary
Geraldine “Geri” Bernard, 71 of Sparks, NV; passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014 in Sparks after a lifetime illness of COPD. Born in NJ on Oct. 5, 1943 and graduated from Columbia High School, Maplewood, NJ in 1961. She later graduated from Berkeley Secretarial School in 1962. In the mid 1960’s Geri moved to CA and worked for KRNO Radio Station in San Bernardino. She then became an executive secretary to the Mayor of the City of San Bernardino and worked in the Mayor’s office for 20 years. She had a great love for animals and always had rescued pets in her life. She was a board member of the Crestline Humane Society. When she moved to Sparks, NV she became a volunteer at the NV Humane Society. Geri began her “Love Story” with Jerry when they married in August of 1979. They shared more than 26 years of happiness and love, enjoying many outdoor activities including RV-ing and boating with a circle of many long-time friends. They often described their marriage as being “fun”. Jerry passed away in 2006. She is survived by her brother, Eric and wife, Midge
Radli of Sparks, NV, uncle Richard Laczavics of Willcox, AZ, 2 nieces and 2 nephews. Memorial graveside services will be 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014 at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren, Riverside, CA, staging #4. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Geri’s memory to the American Lung Association or NV Humane Society.
