Geraldine “Jerry” Atkins
1930 - 2026
Jerry passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 1, 2026. She was born in Brawley, CA on October 24, 1930, to Roland and Vena Skipper. After graduating from Brawley High School Jerry moved to San Bernardino where she met the love of her life SB Police officer David E. Atkins Jr. Jerry worked for the California Department of Unemployment Insurance until her retirement at the age of 72. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of San Bernardino for over 75 years. Jerry was an avid reader, a longtime member of her church choir and loved to entertain friends & family on the piano.
She was preceded in death by her husband David, her brother, Ronald Skipper and sister Marilyn Stubbs. She is survived by her daughters; Jerilyn Fair of Mooresville, NC and Sharon Baskett (Ron) of San Bernardino. Grandchildren; Christopher Baskett (Stevie); Meredith Knox (Luke); Courtney Messrah (Robert); Morgan Lefler (Justin); Donavan Fair (Diana), as well as ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, located at 1900 N. D Street, San Bernardino, CA at 1pm.
