Jay Wright passed away on July 2, 2016, at the age of 84. He is survived by four children, Dennis Joiner, Eddie Wright, Kathy Soder, Jerri Bosarge, 5 Grand Children and 11 Great Grand Children. As a 77 year resident of the San Be Read Obituary
Found a childrens' text book at used book store in San Bernardino with the name Gerald Maurice Wright Junior written inside the book's cover. Other little notes and scribbles, as well. Jay Wright's age and the age of the text book seem to jibe.

Following our marriage in 1965, Jackie and I drove to Orlando, to see the Sidewinders in concert, having no idea we would be moving to Phoenix, and the FWD, within three months. I met Jay when he was with the Far Westerners, and always admired him. I thought of Jay as the "Quiet Giant" in the quartet. The Barbershop world will miss him!
The Sidewinders were our favorite quartet, going back to the 1964 international in San Antonio. And we had cheered for the Far Westerners before that. Jay was always quiet but smiling when we encountered him offstage, and the Society knew him for his great arrangements as well as his rich bass voice. The AIC paid tribute to him as part of our annual remembrance ceremony last week in Nashville. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
