George, you became an important part of my life after your mother died and your father had a hand amputated(because of a tick bite that turned to gangrene). You became more than an uncle;more like a brother, because you lived with our family for approximately 10 years before joining the Air Force.
When my father died suddenly at 41 years of age,you had to fight the US government to get "home" from overseas for his funeral. He wasn't classified as your father but you did it George!
There were good time also. You teased me because you loved to hear me whine and cry. Do you remember when we played "anti anti over". You tried to jump over me; you didn't make it and knocked me out cold.
And my mother wanted to kill us when you put my new funeral dress on top of the car while she was making funeral arrangements for my father. She drove-off not knowing it was on the car and naturally was lost forever.
Your life was in California while my husband Rich and I spent 10 years overseas but the distance did not lessen the bond of family and love we shared.
I will cherish the memories of the last few visits we had with you, Gayleen and John. After all, who is going to fry the turkey now?
I do not know your daughter and granddaughters well but I know how important they were to you. So, as the circle of family grows, so does the love. John is a very special young man and he has helped me deal with your death but I especially appreciate the dedicated and loving care that Gayleen gave to you George.
I love you Gayleen, John and Donna.
You were there when my father died and you came again when my mother was dying and I needed you. I will now try to be there for your family. Good-bye George, my uncle "my brother, my friend". I will love you forever.
Love,
