Gary Lee Paytas' Obituary
Gary “Chip” Paytas, 65, passed away November 24, 2012 at Redlands Community Hospital. Gary was born in Highland and was a resident of Redlands for 18 years. He retired as Deputy Chief from San Bernardino County Probation after 34 years and enjoyed gardening, building
projects, fly fishing, woodworking, cooking gourmet meals, and riding his horse Shilo. He loved history, especially the history of Redlands, the West and World War II. Most of all he volunteered to help all the neighbors with whatever they needed. He was the organizer of breakfast and lunches with his beloved Highland Junior High “Hornets.” He is survived by his wife, Ellen Kronowitz (Paytas) of Redlands; 2 sons, Jason Paytas of Arcata, CA and Ryan Paytas of Vista; brother, John Paytas of Florissant, CO; granddaughter, Isabella Paytas.
