Fred, Got my attention quickly upon taking his position here at FT. Bragg, as an instructor at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School. I remember wanting so much to work with him because of his calm and humble attitude and knowledge of the MOS. I got the opportunity to instruct with Fred side by side for about 3 1/2 cycles and multiple Field Training Exercises and 4X4'ing in his brand new jeep. I am not afraid to say publicly that I looked up to this younger soldier because he brought so much to the table and his knowledge of our MOS easily made Fred one of our top instructors. I have learned so much from SSG Duebbers, and I will miss the early morning Mountain bike rides, boating and fishing trips we were able to share in as friends. Fred, "if you could only hear what soldiers you have trained and impacted are saying about you even now, I could here you saying DUDE, just wait till you get down range it only gets better". Rest in peace Fred. Job well done buddy, Job well done. Your Friend Scott, ##imported-begin##SSG Scott Fortune##imported-end##
Fred (Duebbers, as we often called him on duty and off for that matter)was an incredible human being. Full of life, with a great sense of humor and an awesome smile. I think he found his niche with the military,as well as the backwoods of NC. Beacuse of Duebbers, I am a better NCO,friend and human being. He will always be a part of me, and the military family he was part of,here at Ft Bragg. I will alway cherish my memories of him and the stories he told me.He will never be far from my heart and memory. ##imported-begin##Ssg Stacy Osterhoudt##imported-end##
I had the great fortune of Commanding B Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Warfare Training Group (A) at the United States Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, Fort Bragg, NC during a time in which SSG Duebbers was mobilized. SSG Duebbers was an incredible asset to have helped us train the next generation of Civil Affairs Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, and Initial Entry Soldiers. He took great satisfaction in imparting his many experiences and tremendous Civil Affairs knowledge into these newly minted soldiers as they prepared to do their part in the Global War on Terror. Although SSG Duebbers’ sudden passing has left an empty void in the hearts and thoughts of many family members and co-workers, I take pride in the belief that many recently deployed and soon to be deployed Civil Affairs Soldiers will have been better trained and safer in their actions through their contact and training with SSG Duebbers. I give my most sincere condolences to all who grieve his passing.##imported-begin##MAJ David Converse##imported-end##
What a blessing it is to have been a friend of Fred's, he touched us in so many ways, he was so full of life and so full of spirit and was one of the kindest people we have known.
If there is one thing I hope Fred left with all of us, that would be to show us how to be happy and how to treat other people and to show us just how great life can be.
This world has lost someone so special and is a sadder place without Fred.
He will be in our hearts forever, thank you for the gift of Fred.

Fred was one of the nicest people any could call a friend. He always wore a smile that made your problems fade away whenever you saw him. People say that Fred went to a better place, no matter how true this is, this world is not a better place without him. I will miss him deeply.##imported-begin##Brenda Herrick##imported-end##
