FREDDIE SPELLACY's Obituary
Freddie Spellacy had a plaque on her desk with the phrase “Just Do It!” decades before it became a popular trade mark. It defined her path through life.
Freddie was born on September 18, 1925. She was raised in the small town of Mobeetie located in the pan-handle of Texas.
As a farmer’s daughter during the Great Depression she learned early that the fruits of life, both spiritual and material, are rewarded after hard work and tenacity. The Lowery family included her brothers Bernard , Norman and Donald and her baby sisters, Wanda and Joyce.
Freddie was a gifted artist as a child. She created oil paintings of mountains and landscapes from the memories of pictures she saw in magazines. Her pursuit of art was sacrificed when she was required to work at age thirteen to help support the family.
After she started her own family, her husband was called to World War II. Freddie packed up all she had and took a train to Southern California with her baby, Darryl, to meet her husband.
During the war she worked on an assembly line that manufactured airplane engines. She felt a great sense of accountability, as she wired-tied the bolts, knowing that the quality of her work could mean the life or death of an Airman overseas.
Freddie settled in the Inland Empire in 1946. It is in San Bernardino where she discovered her gift for selling Real Estate and e her skills that catered so well to her work ethic. For herself, excuses were never given, obstacles were defeated with courage and a desire to be the best. She believed you must work harder than the rest. With her husband, James Francis Spellacy, she created the company Spellacy & Associates Realtors Inc.
She was honored as the best in her field. She was recognized publically by her peers for her accomplishments. Privately she made her family aware of the many people that enabled her success. And, above all, she believed that to work hard is to glorify God.
Freddie dedicated her heart and soul to her faith as an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her passion for its beliefs formed the foundation for her values.
Within the framework of her career and religion she raised ten children; Darryl, Harrell, Keith, John, Carol, James. Sharon L. Olels, Theresa G. Parks, Kathleen A. Ciabatti, and Michael J. Spellacy.
She is survived by 9 children, 25 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. Proceeded in death by beloved husband, James Spellacy in 1999 and son, Michael Spellacy in 2005.
Winifred Lorene Spellacy passed away the morning of October 13, 2009. We love you Freddie.
