Franklin Eugene Reed of San Bernardino, CA died on Friday, September 30, 2011 at Loma Linda University Medical Center. He was 78.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to offer condolences to Frank’s family at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Avenue, San Bernardino, CA on Monday, October 10, 2011 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. A military graveside service will take place on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA, Staging Area 6.
Born in Gainesville, GA, Frank moved to San Bernardino, CA in 1971 where he was stationed at Norton AFB as a flight engineer and instructor. He proudly served his country for 38 years retiring as Senior Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force. His service included combat assignments in the Korean and Vietnam wars flying the B-26 Invader and RC 121 Constellation, respectively. His last duty assignment was flying the C 141 Starlifter with the 63rd Military Airlift Wing at Norton AFB.
Frank was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Joanne Waters Reed, who preceded him at peace four years prior. He spent four months at her bedside during a long illness and missed her greatly.
He leaves to cherish his memories three children, David Eugene Reed, Franklin Duane Reed and his wife Maureen and Deborah Pauline Sabelman and her husband Ted; four grandchildren, Elise Caroline Reed, Marina Alexandra Reed, Randall Reed and William Reed.
