FLOYD J. MC DONALD's Obituary
Floyd J. McDonald, 87, a 58-year resident of San Bernardino, CA. passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Kaiser Permanente in Fontana. He is survived by his two sons, Larry of San Francisco and Philip of Reno. Emma Belle, his beloved wife of 57 years, preceded him in death in Nov. 2000. A native of Washington, IN, he received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 1942 and remained a life long member of its alumni association. In 1958, he received a M. S. in Industrial Engineering from USC. He served as an officer for over 5 years in the Air Force during both WWII and the Korean War and also served in the Air Force Reserve for over 20 years. He retired in 1973 from the Air Force Contract Management Division. An avid citrus label collector, he was an early member of The Citrus Label Society. He also enjoyed collecting Hawaiian books and ephemera. In recent years, he became an enthusiastic volunteer working with his sons at the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad in New Mexico and Colorado. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to: City of Hope, 1055 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90017; Disabled American Veterans, P. O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250; Habitat For Humanity International, 121 Habitat Street, Americus, GA 31709; or Friends of the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad, Inc., 6005 Osuna Road NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109. Memorial graveside services are tentatively planned for July 31, 2009 at Riverside National Cemetery.
