I'm so uncertain over what to think or feel; I've only learned of this a mere two hours ago. Anger, hurt, just about everything at once; I suppose I'm still in shock.
I can't say these last years have been spent with my dad, but there were certainly so many that covered the span of my life that I can hardly begin to convey them here. But if I may, I'd like to recall those that might well matter most.
Floyed liked horses and anything western. He took me to my first concert at the swing auditorium in San Bernardino. We seen Willie Nelson, and what an experience that was. He once owned a horse named Sunny, about sixeen hands tall, and we kept Sunny in a stable right next to the house. I remember going to rodeos when I was a little kid, and he once took my mom and self to Bisby Arizona; where he and his family was from.
He also liked old cars, and he once owned an old Plymouth that I believe he got from his brother, Billy-wayne. He also liked old guns, and he taught me how to shoot and hunt. We use to go to the dessert and hunt rabbits, when I was a kid, and we had a lot of fun doing that.
We certainly wasn't rich when I was little, but hey; nobdy was. Still, we found pleasure in the simple things. We use to go to Lytle creek in his old Ford Falcon and make macromey, back in the hippie days of the early seventies, and it was all good. We use to also drive out to Laguna Beach and hike down the cliffs to the water. Also reminds me of the times when we did the same at Silverwood lake, where we caught some of the biggest catfish you ever saw.
I remember so much, yet so much now seems lost. Tina, Tammy, Shane, Blue, Billy,
Irven, Ella, Paulein, Micheal, Sid, Omer, Brenda, Gail, James, Yvonne, Dee Dee, and so many more who I hope are all doing well. His partners at the Hair Forum were Kenney and Lou, bye the way, and Floyd was once one of the best car salesman in San Bernardino. He worked for Center and Crest Chevrolet, and I can remember him bringing home all the muscle cars of the day. Never forget the 1970 SS Chevelle he once gave me a ride in. And although he was quite successful, he quit for the sake of his family and cut hair for some of the most well known people in all of San Bernardino for many years. This is just one of many reaons why he was so well known and liked by the community.
In the Navy, he served on a ship called the "Hector", and he seen many ports; such as the Philipines.
There's so much more I wish I could convey, but Floyd taught me the value of hard work, appreciation for all that I have, and that anything worth doing is worth doing right. Wish he could have seen me graduate college. Would be nice for him to know his son wears a stethascope now instead of an electrican's bag... God Bless Him.##imported-begin##Greg Allen##imported-end##
