Flaviana (Bing) Marcelo Johnson's Obituary
Flaviana “Bing” Marcelo Johnson, 76, of Highland, CA passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2016 in Loma Linda, CA. Bing was born in Paranaque Rizal, Philippines on December 22, 1939. She graduated and was a master seamstress. She met the love of her life and married on June 22, 1968.
She is survived by her devoted husband Merelynn, retired Navy Chief, her children May and Jay and her grandchildren Jacob and Hailey. She is also survived by sister, Mary Angeles, in the Philippines and a brother, Dalmacio Marcelo Jr. and their families.
She worked for the state of California School for the Deaf in Riverside as a seamer for 17 years and transferred to Patton State Hospital in 1996, where she retired in 2002. In Highland, she devoted herself to her family, St. Adelaide Catholic Church and the community. She was the head of the Filipino ministry, a Eucharistic minister and the Filipino representative for the Diocese. She was also recognized by the Catholic Diocese for her exceptional service to the community. Bing was a loving, dedicated, vibrant, generous, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who put others first.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 27, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a parish rosary at 7 p.m. at St. Adelaide Catholic Church, 27457 Baseline, Highland, CA. with a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the church. Interment at 12:45 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd. Riverside, CA, staging # 9.
