Eugene G. Hahn's Obituary
Eugene “Gene” Hahn, 57 of Highland, CA, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family and friends on January 15, 2014.
He was born November 15, 1956 in Windsor Ontario, Canada to Gabrielle and Eugene Hahn. Gene was the youngest of 5 children and grew up in a home enriched by both the Hungarian and French backgrounds of his parents. Gene graduated from Sierra High School in 1974, He then joined the U.S. Army and proudly served for 2 ½ years in Germany. After his Honorable discharge he returned to the San Bernardino area, where much to his delight he became reacquainted with Darlene, the love of his life. They have been married for 23 years and theirs was a very close and loving partnership. Darlene and Gene were blessed with two very beloved children, James and Kirsten. Gene has been a very loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father and friend.
Gene has worked tirelessly as an accomplished Diesel Mechanic for his whole career. He always took great pride in his work, often persisting with difficult or challenging diagnostic situations. Gene had achieved the highest certifications available in his field. Just prior to his brief illness he was promoted to a position as Diesel Technician Trainer, which he undertook with gusto and great satisfaction.
Another passion in Gene’s life was Tae Kwon Do. He began his training in 1966 and achieved 5th degree black Belt. Gene also became a devoted instructor to thousands of youth over the years. Many young lives have been deeply affected by the principles of respect, honor, responsibility that Master Hahn taught and lived by. Gene absolutely considered it a privilege to be able to share in the lives of these students and their families. Both Kirsten and James have been very active within the Tea Kwon Do community and so has his helpmate, Darlene.
The true light fueling this honorable man was his personal relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is that relationship that now sustains us with great comfort and hope.
Gene is survived by his wife Darlene, children James and Kirsten, sister Carmen, brother Bernard and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Liliane and Edith.
