ESTHER HANOVER's Obituary
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grand mother & friend, Esther Hanover, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2008, in Palm Desert, two days after her 94th birthday. She was surrounded at all times by her loving family who were fortunate to observe her in her final days showing the epitome of strength, courage, grace & dignity.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 23, 1914, TO Anna & Charles Silverberg. She married her childhood sweetheart, Harold Hanover, secretly, on July 13, 1932 and again on January 1, 1933. They had two children together, Norman L. & George M. Hanover.
She lived in San Bernardino, California for over 60 years, moving to Palm Desert in 2003. While in San Bernardino, she belonged to Temple Emanu El, actively participating in Sisterhood, Hadassah & B’nai Birth Women. Her move to Atria Hacienda in Palm Desert fascilitated her being close to her children and gave her the opportunity to develop many new friendships.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, who passed away in 2004, after celebrating 72 years of a beautiful, happy marriage. Her brother Albert also preceded her in death. She is survived by her sons, Norman and his wife Mary Lou & George and his wife Marsh, ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, her sister Evelyn Tarr and her sister-in-law Madeline Levine.
Her family wishes to thank the staff at Atria Hacienda for their wonderful care and concern for her welfare, the staff at Eisenhower Medical Center, ER and 2 East for their services during her surgery and hospitalization, and Odyssey Hospice House for maintaining her comfort and dignity in her final days. The family thanks Dr. Robert Mc Peake and Dr. George Broder, for their unending compassion and guidance in her care.
Services will be held at Temple Emanu El on Thursday, May 29, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. with burial at its cemetery to follow.
