Mr. Elmer E. Reece's Obituary
Elmer E. Reece, 94, of Rialto CA passed away peacefully on May 8, 2014. A 92 year resident of the San Bernardino Valley, Mr. Reece was well known in baseball circles both as a player and particularly as a coach; taking teams to division finals on numerous occasions. After attending San Bernardino High School and graduating with the Spring Class of ’39 Elmer enlisted in the Army Air Corp, where he attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He married Helen Marie Newton in Georgia, during his time in the military, returning to the San Bernardino area after the completion of his service. He was a machinist with the Santa Fe, for his entire working career.
He was preceded in death by, Helen, his wife of 67 years.
The memory of his generosity and concern for his fellow man shall be both cherished and missed.
A visitation will be held today, May 21, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. with a Chapel Service to follow tomorrow, May 22, 2014 at 11am, both at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave. San Bernardino, CA 92404. A graveside service will follow at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery in Colton.
