Ellis was not just a family man, but a hero to the country he served. I am happy to have gotten to know Ellis and listen to his many adventures and wise words. I've come to know him through his son, Maurice, and enjoy how he inspired not only his son but me as well. I only wish I could have spent more time with Ellis to have more wonderful memories of him and all the good he's done, even for me. Ellis was like a second father to me and it crushed my heart knowing that he passed away.
However, one thing I will never forget about Ellis were his views about me. He accepted me as Maurice's girlfriend, he gave me advice when no one else would, he enjoyed my company, and he welcomed me with open arms. But, most importantly...
He accepted me as part of the Stewart family; and for that, I couldn't be more honored to have been a part of his life, even if for a moment. Thank you for all the words of wisdom and joyous memories. Thank you for your service. Thank you for accepting me.
