Ellis "Buddy" Merrill Camp Jr.'s Obituary
Rev. Ellis Merrill “Buddy” Camp Jr., 74, passed away on April 10, 2010 at his home in Highland CA of Pulmonary Fibrosis. Buddy was born on July 28, 1935 in Overton, TX; he served for 8 years in the United States Navy Reserves. He graduated from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and served as a Southern Baptist pastor for 41 years in Texas, California and Oregon. One of Buddy’s passions was teaching Bible Studies.
He is survived by his wife Mary Lee, his three daughters Cathy Hahn (Joe) of Alta Loma, CA, Connie Churchill (Jeff) of Peoria AZ, Chris Smith (Rick) of Riverside, CA; his three step daughters Carey La Salle of Hidden Hills, CA, Parian Blain (Shaun) of Long Beach CA and Tammy Howells of Long Beach, CA. Also surviving him are his sister Lucille Ramos of Marina, CA, his 14 grandchildren and many other loving extended family and dear friends.
A visitation will be held Friday April 16, 2010 from 5-7p.m. at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave. San Bernardino, CA 92404. A memorial service to honor Buddy’s life will be held on Saturday April 17, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, (main sanctuary) 28355 Baseline, Highland, CA 92346 with a reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall. Inurnment will be private.
