ELEANOR ANN UNDERWOOD's Obituary
Eleanor A. (Nicholson) Underwood, born Sept. 10, 1913, in Boston, Massachu setts. Mother: Ellen T. Nicholson, housewife. Father: John A. Nicholson, policeman. Graduated from Jamaica Plains High School June 1930. Moved with family to California Sept. 1930. Em ployed at S.H. Kress Com pany 1931 to 1936, and Sears Roebuck and Compa ny 1936 to 1974, retiring as Personnel Manager. Married to J. Dewey Under wood from June 1936, until his death in June of 1972. Enjoyed extensive travel af ter 1977. Was a member of American Business Women's Association since 1964. Served as President for two terms, also, Secretary of Sears Retiree Club. Moved in October, 2001 to retirement home in Sur prise, Arizona. Survived by her sister, Alice Whitman of Surprise, Arizo na; two nephews, John R. Whitman of New York City, N.Y. and Andrew Whitman of Snohomish, Washington; and a niece, Carol Skene of Aurora, Colorado, and an other niece, Joy Buras, in California. Has 19 other great nieces and nephews and many friends. Died in her sleep in her apartment in Surprise, Ari zona, on January 30, 2009. Will be buried beside her husband at Mt. View Cemetery. No services are planned.
