David Seccombe
Aunt Eleanor, My visit with you and Uncle Gordon soon after graduating from dental school was very important. Not only did it make the family bond stronger, but allowed me to see you both with adult eyes and appreciate all that you two accomplished in life, busily enjoying your very social and creative retirement years.
Of course, you both had very good advice for me as I was embarking on my dental career. Thirty-five years later I'm still serving in a great profession.
When I shared with you both how interested I was in gathering family pictures, stories, etc., you two were the perfect hosts. You never strayed far from San Bernardino, so you were an important repository of Seccombe "stuff". As a result, you were extremely instrumental in getting my genealogical hobby off to a big start. And boy has it grown in 35 years! I know that it was important to you both that Seccombe history did not slip away and that is why I am passionate about my endeavor.
I enjoyed stories of Uncle Gordon's hunting trips and wine-making. June felt very lucky to have one of your Provencal fabric quilted clutches. You both enjoyed your friends and hobbies so much. And your friends and family were better for experiencing these things with you.
Love, Dave Seccombe, great-nephew
