Eldon C. Lewis, Ph.D., CPA
Eldon Curtis Lewis passed away peacefully November 18, 2011, at his home in Highland, CA, surrounded by his family. He had suffered from a long-term illness. He was born in Middletown, Missouri, on May 24, 1933, the son of Howard and Maud Lewis.
Eldon received his B.S. from Washburn University, his M.B.A. from the University of Kansas, and his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri. He taught and held administrative positions at Washburn University, Wichita State University, West Texas State University (now West Texas State A&M) in Canyon, Texas, and Cal State San Bernardino. He also practiced as a CPA for Fox & Company and Grant Thornton in Denver and Chicago. He served in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife Stel (Stella) of 55 years and three children and their spouses: Jayne Lewis and husband Brook Thomas of Irvine; Kathleen (Katie) Bowman and husband Blaine of San Diego, and Curtis B. Lewis and wife Roza of Highland. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Peter Thomas, Karlina and Ashlyn Bowman, and Caitlin and Claire Lewis.
Eldon was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Paul and Delano. He was a member of Del Rosa United Methodist Church.
A graveside service will be held at Riverside National Cemetery at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2011. Bobbitt Memorial Chapel is in charge of services. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Redlands Community Hospital Hospice.
