As a young boy growing up, I spent many a Thanksgiving and Christmas with Duke and Ev and the gang. These are some of my fondest childhood memories. He was always in good spirits and as a child, one of those adults with which one feels very comfortable. I was blessed to have him attend my Change of Command at Fleet Readiness Center West, and will never forget the joy he brought to our lives.

Duke was my first cousin. Smart, funny, generous and a favorite of our family. My first recollection was being teased by him at our grandparents house in Illinois. He and his family moved to California and it wasn't until he was an adult that we reconnected. He and Evelyn visited us in Germany and England which was great fun. We miss them both very much.
I went to visit Duke the Wednesday before he passed away; he was in bed watching Music for Millions staring June Allyson and Jimmy Durante. There was a scene where the orchestra was performing Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto #3. Duke had been moving his arms to the music. He stopped and pointed at the TV and said "my father". Then I said "Your dad played this, didn't he? In concerts, you remember!". We watched some more, another scene came on where "Claire DeLunne" was being performed on the harmonica in a cafe. I asked Duke if he remembered the song and he nodded, moving his arms to the music. I looked over after a bit, Duke had drifted off to sleep. I tiptoed out of his room, leaving the TV on. I'll remember Duke and his love and appreciation of classical music.
Duke was a great man that we are happy to have known. We will forever be grateful for the opportunity he gave to us. He will always be in our hearts, we have many great memories. He will truly be missed!

Duke was my mother's brother. Growing up, they were Duke and Sis. He and my mother were quite a pair! They were oil and vinegar, but also two peas in a pod! Over the years they were often separated by geography, but in the last several years had become very close again. To my brothers and sister, he was "Uncle Duke." Our family gatherings were boisterous affairs with Duke and my mother usually arguing politics and Duke teasing the kids or telling silly jokes. He and Evelyn were great hosts for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter gatherings, and I have many good memories of all the times our families got together over the years. We lost our mother last year, and I know it was hard on Duke. My deepest condolences go to my cousins and their families. We will all miss Uncle Duke!!
Lee and I did not know Duke, well, but the few times we met were always very pleasant associations. Our best regards are offered to Claudia and her children, as well as to Duke's other children and families. We are here to assist in whatever ways you may need us.
Duke was a good example of the effect a good man can have on a community. He loved his town, he loved his golf, he loved his family, his books, his music, and especially Real Estate. We have been close friends for 29 years and cherish many wonderful memories. The stories keep replaying in our minds these last few days like a beautiful old movie where the theme does not leave. We will forever cherish his memory in our hearts and minds, be thankful we were part of his life, and feel blessed that we knew a once in a lifetime friend , one of a kind, Duke Hill.

The many hours of joy, of sharing our love of music, wine, and the life lessons you so loved to teach. I can't even imagine our lives without you. You will always live in our hearts and minds.
