EDWARD JOSPEH BABBITT's Obituary
Eddie J Babbitt June 21, 1935 – May 27, 2008 Age 72
San Bernardino native Eddie Babbitt passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on May 27, 2008 in Phoenix Arizona from respiratory failure. He was born in San Bernardino, CA to Eddie and Patty Babbitt. He met and soon after married Susie Huggins in 1956. They raised their family in Reche Canyon, CA. He retired after 50 years as an electrician and member of IBEW Local 477. He and his wife Susie moved to Montrose, Colorado where his hobbies were big-game hunting and deep-sea fishing with his sons’ in San Diego where he moored his fishing boat the “Susie Too”. As an avid hunter he has several elk and caribou racks listed in the Boone and Crockett records. After the passing of his wife Susie in 1996, he married Claudia Brakebill in 2002. They resided in Prescott, AZ.
Eddie graduated from St. Bernardine’s High School in 1953 and joined the San Bernardino Chapter of the IBEW electrical union Local 477 upon graduation. He worked as an industrial electrician until retirement in 1989. Eddie was known for his strong work ethic and family values. He made everyone laugh and was a great sportsman and storyteller. He was greatly loved and is missed by all.
Eddie is survived by his wife Claudia of Prescott, Arizona his sister Thelma Ingram of Coeur D’Alene, ID and his daughters, April Hurley of Monte Vista, CO, Janie Dakan of Canyon Lake, CA, Lisa Mazal of San Bernardino, CA; his sons Skip Babbitt of San Diego, CA and Steve Babbitt of Highland, CA; grandchildren Megan, Kelsey and Will Hurley, Jamie, Jake, and Eleni Litras, Rochelle, Ben, Alexa, and Sam Mazal, Gage and Devin Babbitt, Jordan and Taylor Babbitt, and great grandson Jacob Parvin
Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 1, followed by a rosary at 5:00 p.m. at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave. San Bernardino. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday June 2, 10:00 a.m., at St. Adelaide’s Catholic Church, 27457 Baseline Ave, Highland, CA. Internment will follow at Montecito Memorial Park, Barton Rd. and Waterman Ave. in Colton.
