DR. BRUCE MORGAN SHEPARD's Obituary
Bruce M. Shepard, M.D., 94 of San Bernardino passed away on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006. Dr. Shepard was born on Nov. 15, 1911 in Leadville, CO. to Lucius Phelps and Bertha Shepard. He was raised in Colorado and Illinois. He graduated from the University of Illinois and Harvard School of Medicine. He entered the Navy in 1942 and spent the next 20 years as a Navy doctor. During World War II, he participated in the invasion of North Africa and served in the Aleutian Islands. After the war he served in the Japan occupation, the Korean War, and other postings. He ended his military service at the Naval Hospital, San Diego. Upon retirement in 1962, he relocated to San Bernardino where he practiced anesthesiology and had a long association with St. Bernardine’s Hospital. He also taught respiratory physiology at Victor Valley College and San Bernardino Valley College. He is survived by a nephew, Phelps Shepard, in Oregon, and a niece, Jacqueline Charles, in Illinois. Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 19, 2006 at the Matich Conference Center, St. Bernardine Medical Center, 2101 N. Waterman Ave. San Bernardino, CA.
