Judi, I was saddened to see Doug had passed. Time has gotten away from me here, but please know I send my heart felt condolences to you and the family. I have a multitude of memories working with Doug, the best boss anybody could ever have. I was honored to be his secretary the year before his appointment. The smile on his face after hanging up on the Governor's call was priceless. Doug was profound and he was for the people and it showed. He was attorney for many in my family, including Grandma and my Dad. One time, my son needed a local businessman to write a letter to include in his thesis as to whether the Latin language was a viable language in this day and age. Low and behold, Doug took the time to write that letter for my son. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. He is missed by so many.

I'm just seeing this and want to send condolences to Judi and his family. I worked with Judi many moons ago and have many fond memories of times spent with her and Doug. Doug also knew my mother. He was her attorney. I remember his smile and laughter ❤️

I started working with Judge Fettel in Fontana when I became a courtroom clerk in 1994. He was intimidating on the bench but I soon learned his bark was worse than his bite. He would yell at the attorneys and in the next sentence, be joking with them. He was a rebel when it came to following rules like no smoking in chambers. When he did start smoking outside, he would stand in the parking lot in his robe. I always told him he should just put a target on the back of his robe. He was sarcastic and I loved that. I respected his knowledge of the law and his strength on the bench. He was one of a kind.
