Uncle Doug was always there ... for fun times, family times, and always in a crisis. He showed up and did whatever needed doing. When I was little, he tickled me and picked out dresses for me at Hogan's. Later, I appreciated how he became best friend/favored uncle to our exchange student Junichi. Mostly, I will miss how Doug could tell a story. He always knew who was in the picture, what the connection was, and could tell the story perfectly. His sense of humor was so dry ... often I couldn't tell if he was joking or not (but he always was!). If there is a heaven, I am sure Uncle Doug has already been issued a golden phone so that he can keep on telling those stories.
