Dorothy K. Reis' Obituary
Dorothy Reis, of San Bernardino was blessed to pass away peacefully at home April 12, 2013. She was born on April 16, 1926 and would have been 87 on her birthday. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph C. Reis after 60 years of a loving, faithful marriage. She leaves behind 5 children; Mike of Sacramento, Pat of Santa Rosa, Chris of Santa Maria, Katy of San Bernardino & John of Seattle, Washington. She also will be dearly missed by her 11 grandchildren & 9 great-grandchildren. Our mom and dad loved to travel throughout the United Sates and Canada, as long as it didn't require flying because our dad liked to have the ground at his feet. Mom continued their tradition of travel even after our dad’s passing taking to the air to reach her destinations. Our mom and dad loved photography and were long time members of the Lens & Shutter Camera Club, where they would put together beautiful slide programs of their travels. At one point in theirs lives they were very active in the Guys and Dolls Square Dance group, as well as our mom being involved in the Succulent and Cactus Society. They both also sang for many years in the church choirs at St. Bernadines, Sacred Heart of Redlands and Holy Rosary Cathedral. Mom would often wake us up in the morning with her singing, whether we wanted it or not. Dorothy was very active in her Catholic faith at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, where she chaired Hospitality & was involved in many other ministries, such as the Bereavement ministry, Scripture group, and 50’s plus group. She also was involved with the Young at Heart group at Our Lady of The Assumption Church.
Dorothy was a wonderful mother & grandmother. Her love, kindness, smile and singing will truly be missed.
