Dorothy Pauline Holt, 85, of Colton, Ca went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2011. She passed in Loma Linda, suffering a stroke and passing peacefully with family and friends by her side. She was born July 30, 1925 in Minneota, Minnesota. One of two children, she was the daughter of George Heine and Myra Yeo Heine of Tracy, Minnesota. After George’s passing, in 1938, Myra, Dorothy and Elnora moved from Tracy, Minnesota to Brawley, California. They moved to San Bernardino in 1940. Dorothy met Burlin Holt at a dance, in Redlands. She married him on October 4, 1943. When Burlin left to serve in the Merchant Marines in WWII, Dorothy began a career at General Telephone Co. Upon return from the war Burlin was also employed by General Telephone Co. in the evenings. During the day he trained race horses. They both worked for GTE for over 40 years. In 1960 they had their only child, Garner. In 1976, Dorothy and Burlin supported and encouraged him to start his own business. They proudly watched the business grow over the next 35 years.
Most of all, Dorothy was devoted to her family, and was the most wonderful wife and mother. She enjoyed writing and did several studies and essays on books of the bible. She spent time riding on the back of Burlin’s motorcycle, to Arizona and helping with the race horses. She was a loving daughter and when her mother, Myra, was placed in a nursing home Dorothy visited her faithfully everyday for nearly 12 years. She was a Christian and loved studying the bible, watching bible study programs and attending and supporting San Bernardino Baptist Church. From 1979 through the last days she enjoyed helping and supporting her son in his business and spent many hours each week studying the financials, books and also keeping corporate records. She was a great cook, loved musical theater and held season tickets for 40 years at the SBCLO. She loved all animals, especially dogs and horses. She supported many charities such as the Salvation Army and Shepherds Chapel.
