Donald G. Niemeyer's Obituary
Donald (Coach) F. Niemeyer, a life-time San Bernardino resident, and a well-known teacher and coach at Pacific and San Gorgonio High Schools passed away at his home on Saturday, February 27, 2010. Don was born 3/31/1922 in Corona, CA, raised in the San Bernardino area and graduated from SBHS with the class of 1940.
After attending Valley College, where he played football, Don joined the US Army Air Corps, 91st Bomb Group and flew missions in B17s over Normandy and France. Don and his high school sweetheart, Annie (Lura Ann Sheehan) married in San Bernardino on October 22, 1944.
Don graduated from the University of Redlands with a teaching degree. His first job was at Allesandro School; he retired from San Gorgonio High School in 1986.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Annie, son Brian and his brother Robert. He leaves two sons, Dennis (Kathy) and Jim (Patti), six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves an extended family and life-long friends who will miss him very much.
Services will be Monday March 8th at 10:00 a.m. at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave. San Bernardino, CA 92404. Inurnment will be at Riverside National Cemetery 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA 92518 on Tuesday March 9, 2010 @ 10:00 a.m. at staging area 1.
