Donald B Nevius
“Trucker Don”
passed away on Friday June 11, 2010. Don was born September 13, 1925 in Redlands, CA to James and Mary Nevius. He was raised in the orange groves of Mentone and remembered riding on a float in the Orange Parade when he was about 12 years old. He lived the majority of his life in San Bernardino, CA.
Don served his country in WWII aboard the USS Marcos Island and the USS Alabama.
Don spent the last 35 plus years of his life as a member of AA and gave of himself to help others be successful in eradicating alcohol from their lives. Don was known as “Trucker Don” to his friends at AA. We have met several of his friends during his illness and it has been enlightening learning how he helped so many. The family appreciates their kindness and assistance during Don’s illness.
Don was preceded in death by his wife Floriene J. Nevius and is survived by his daughters Phyllis Rasmussen, Kathy Horn, Lois Ebel, Patty Privett and Janet Stumpf. He also leaves 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Thursday June 17th from 5-7pm at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave. San Bernardino, CA 92404. A graveside service will be held in his honor on Friday June 18th at 11am at Montecito Memorial Park, Colton, CA.
