Mr Donald Dean Gilbert Sr.'s Obituary
Donald ‘Don’ Dean Gilbert, 69, went home to be with the Lord on June 12, 2014. Don was born in Arizona to Dean and Buelah Gilbert the eldest of their two sons. The family eventually moved to Southern California and Don graduated from West Covina High School in 1962. He then attended Mt San Antonia Community College for two years graduating with an AA. Don volunteered his time with the United Marine Corp Reserves completing his duty in 1965.
He met and married Meta Schreurs, the love of his life, in 1965 and they were married in 1966 in West Covina. They had four children beginning with Don Jr. then Jeanette, then William, and finally Carrie. Don worked for many years as a Private Investigator for multiple companies finally retiring at the age of 54 to spend more time with his family.
Don gave his life to the Lord quietly when he was 35 years of age and lived confidently with his faith until the end.
He loved to take the family camping and spent many years travelling to Bishop to go fishing with his family. He was a talented wood carver, creating works of art that appeared life like.
He is survived by Meta his wife of 48 years. Also surviving him are his children Don, Jeanette (Darryl) Skelton, William, and Carrie, along with his brother Rodney Gilbert and eleven grandchildren – Amanda, Jacob, Justine, Danielle, Jessie, Delaney, Steven, Robert, Justin Michael Lee, Kaitlyn Joyann, & Kraig Charles.
Interment will be private
