Dolorosa "Delle" Mary Chilbes' Obituary
Dolorosa "Delle" Mary Chilbes of Lytle Creek, CA died July 15, 2008 after complications from a stroke. She was born September 8, 1922 in Nova Scotia, Canada, but grew up in Indiana. After marrying her husband Peter A. Chilbes the two moved to the Inland Empire in 1946 to raise their family together. Lytle Creek is where they made their final home and she was very proud of becoming a U. S. Citizen in 1953.
Dolorosa took pride in being a mother not only to her own children, but to many others in need of her unconditional motherly love. Many remember her for her natural ability to see the beautiful things in life such as sunsets, hummingbirds or blooming flowers. Sincere compliments were free flowing from her mouth as were her kind words; this was because of her ability to see the good in everyone.
Dolorosa was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and was a former President of the Alter and Rosary Society at Resurrection Catholic Church. Her strong faith in the Lord was apparent to all.
Dolorosa was preceded in death by her daughter Kathleen Chilbes in 1946, her son Mark Chilbes in 1966 and her husband and sweetheart of 58 years Peter A. Chilbes in 2001.
She is survived by a family that will never forget all that she has taught them about living life to the fullest and being kind to those around you, Marueen Hartman of San Bernardino, Laura Paris of Lytle Creek, Peter A. Chilbes Jr. of Ridgecrest and Denise Cochran of San Bernardino. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren who will forever remember their amazing grandmother.
A visitation will be held Friday July 18, 2008 from 5 - 7 p.m. with a vigil beginning at 7 p.m. at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino, CA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday July 19, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. at Blessed John XXIII Catholic Church (Formerly St. Thomas More) at 222 E. Easton Street, Rialto, CA with burial immediately following at Mountain View Cemetery 570 E. Highland Ave. San Bernardino, CA.
