Mrs Deidre Coffey's Obituary
Deidre Coffey, nee McDermott, died on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at her home in Sun City. She was born April 28, 1935 in London, England. Deidre came to America in 1959 with her mother for a visit, met the love of her life, Gerard “Jerry” Coffey, at a dance on Halloween, and got married to him the following year on July 9, 1960.
She was a legal secretary for many years, raised two children, and then worked as a Senior Secretary for San Bernardino City Unified School District. Deidre was a resident of San Bernardino for over 50 years, and was involved with Emblem Club at the Elks Lodge in San Bernardino.
Her best friend, Jerry, preceded her in death on December 10, 2011 after an illness during which she was his devoted caregiver to the end. They enjoyed over 51 years of marriage together and she is now reunited with him in heaven.
Deidre was a most loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by her children, Deirdre (Michael) of Temecula, and Gerard (Sherice) of Arizona, her brother, Patrick McDermott, and his wife, Betty, of Murrieta, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
