David Richard Kosmal's Obituary
David Richard Kosmal, 61, of Highland California, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 11, 2024, following a long battle with COPD.
Beloved son to Laddie and Shirley Kosmal, born on September 21, 1963, in San Bernardino, California; the youngest of their six children. He attended Saint Adelaide's Catholic School and graduating from Aquinas high school in 1981.
David loved building Volkswagen racing motors, and was extremely good at it, which was quite evident if you ever took a ride in one of his creations. He began working as a mechanic at Bob's Auto Repair in Highland for about 2 years, before being given an opportunity to work with his Uncle Jerry Westmoreland, at his company Silver Star House Cleaners.
He thrived on the hard work and the busy schedule, staying with the company for many years. When David's sister Karen took ill and needed a caregiver, David stepped up and became her full-time, live-in care provider until Karen's passing in 2017.
David had a deep faith in God and in Jesus Christ as his Savior, always holding a deep love and devotion to Jesus' mother, Mary. He enjoyed spending time with his father, Laddie, and attending Mass at St. Adelaide Church.
Though David never had any children of his own, he loved his nieces and nephews greatly. He never failed to ask how they were doing, always saying he was praying for them and tell them he said, “Hi.”
David was preceded in death by his parents, Laddie and Shirley Kosmal; sisters Kathleen and Karen. He is survived by his sister Debbie (Dan) Brown; brother Alan (Donna) Kosmal; sister Denise Richards; uncles Jerry (Terri), and Roy (Janey) Westmoreland; many nieces, nephews and close friends.
A Rosary service will be held at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel in San Bernardino on Sept. 25th at 6pm. An interment service held at Montecito Memorial Park in Colton on Sept 30th at 3pm.
David will be greatly missed and fondly remembered with his green eyes and gentle grin. Until we are all together again, as David used to say at the end of every phone call, "Take care and have a good time."
