COURTLAND THOMAS COLE's Obituary
Courtland Thomas Cole, 89, of Highland, passed away on Sunday morning, April 19, 2009. Court, as he was known, was a retired Lt Col. In the US Air Force and Member of the VFW. He was a bomber pilot in WWII and flew missions during the D-Day campaign. His career also included missile maintenance for Atlas rockets and service with the Strategic Air Command. After retiring form the Air Force, Court kept active by selling RV’s and also worked as a realtor. He also was active in his parish at St Adelaide Roman Catholic Church in Highland and was very active within Mountain Shadows Mobile home community. Court loved to travel with his wife Lorraine in their RV. He also enjoyed ceramic molding, woodworking, and gardening. Court was a kind and good man who had a smile that could light up a whole room. Courtland is survived by his wife Lorraine Cole; his daughters Kathleen (Robert) Lynn and Karen Sprinkel; son, James Cole; and eight grandchildren and eleven great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 22 from 4-7 PM at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel 1299 E Highland Ave., San Bernardino. Mass will be on Thursday, April 23 at 10:00 AM at St. Adelaide Roman Catholic Church 27457 Baseline, in Highland. Interment will be at the Riverside National Cemetery 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside where we will meet at Staging Area #2 at 12:15 PM where he will be accorded properly the full military honors in recognition of his service.
