Constance Tate's Obituary
Constance “Connie” Tate, 85, passed away peacefully September 26 at her home in Twin Peaks with family at her side.
She was born May 6, 1925 in Swissvale, PA, the daughter of the late Helen (Wagner) and Harry Cymbala.
Connie married Jack Tate in October 1948, was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. They raised their seven
children in South Pasadena, Calif. and moved to Cedar Glen, Calif. in 1974. In 2003 she relocated to Yucca Valley for a few years after the “Old Fire” destroyed their home. She later moved back to her beloved mountains where she made her final home with daughter Nancy in Twin Peaks, Calif.
Connie helped found AID for Baja California (ABC) in the late 1960s, and owned Santa’s Toy Shop at Santa’s Village for a few years in the mid 1970s. Connie and Jack traveled to many places including the Vatican, Lourdes, and Fatima. Connie had a special devotion to Our Lady of Fatima and the Nativity.
She is survived by her seven children, Phil (Sieglinde) Tate of Nipomo, Calif., Suzy (Kees) Ariens of Rosemead, Calif., Greg (Vicky) Tate of Ramona, Calif., Kenny Tate of Yucca Valley, Michelle (JP) McPheeters of Yucca Valley, Calif., Nancy Tate of Twin Peaks, Calif. and Tom (Cindy) Tate of Glendora, Calif. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, sister Patsy Reible, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John “Jack” Tate and sister Maxine Jancan.
There will be a Rosary Sunday, October 3rd, 2010 at 3pm at Bobbitt Mortuary Chapel, 1299 E Highland Avenue, San Bernardino, Calif. with visitation immediately following.
The funeral Mass will be Monday, October 4th, 2010, 10am at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 27627 Rim of the World Dr., Lake Arrowhead, Calif. Reception to follow at Parish Hall.
The Committal Service will be at 2pm, Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518. Reception to follow.
