Concepcion Velasquez's Obituary
Concepcion “Connie” Velasquez, 90 of San Bernardino, CA passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2012 at her home in San Bernardino. She is survived by her daughter, Veronica and husband Fred Roybal of Rialto, granddaughters, Laura Velasquez, Anita and Stephanie Roybal, grandsons, Freddie Roybal, Patrick Velasquez, Ralph Roybal and Gilbert Velasquez, 16 great grandchildren and 4 nieces. Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph in February, 2010 and her son, Gilbert who just died on Friday, May 11, 2012.
After attending Colton High School she met and then married Ralph Velasquez in 1939. During WWII Connie was employed with the local war efforts working as a “Rosie the Riveter”. Later she became employed at Norton Air Force Base in various positions such as Aircraft Metal Surface Repair Helper, Ball Turret Mechanic, Typewriter Mechanic, Aircraft Sheet Metal Worker, Jet Engine Mechanic, Secretary and finishing as a Supply Technician. In Sept. of 1978 Connie retired from Norton Air Force Base after 30 years. She and Ralph then traveled the world together.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave. San Bernardino. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10: 00 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2012 at St. Bernardine Catholic Church, 531 N. “F” St. San Bernardino with interment to follow at Mt. View Cemetery, 570 E.
