COL. JOHN P. MIZE, USAF (Ret)'s Obituary
Col. John P. Mize, 86 was a native of San Bernardino, Born Sept. 23, 1920. He graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1938 where he was a talented baseball player. John was picked up by the Pittsburg Pirate Franchise in 1939. In 1942 Col. Mize joined the Army Air Corps serving in WWII as a Fighter Pilot, flying sorties against the Germans and Italians out of North Africa. He married Wilma Murphy in 1947, since deceased. He rejoined the Air Force in 1951 during the Korean conflict and retired in 1970. John was an avid golfer and sportsman, he died at his home in San Bernardino surrounded by his loving family on Sept. 28, 2006. He is survived by his wife Glenna and two children, Greg Mize and Cindy Danielson both of Highland; grandchildren, Matthew and Laura; brother, Robert Mize of MT. and sister, Jeanne Pedersen of Solvang, CA . Chapel Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino. Interment will be at Mt. View Cemetery, 570 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino, CA.
