Cleofas Ramirez's Obituary
Beloved father, husband, brother, grandfather. Served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. As a young man, he served the first mission, of what would eventually become three missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Married Emily Levelle Gordon in January of 1959. The union produced four children: Perry Andrew Ramirez, Theodore Gordon Ramirez, Alison Leigh Ramirez Rodriguez, and Hugh Gordon Ramirez. Alison later had two children: Andrew Jacob Rodriguez, and Jordyn Elyse Rodriguez. Cleofas married Geraldine Gonzales Ramirez. He served a second and a third mission with Geraldine to the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico , despite having heart trouble that resulted in stents, a bypass operation, and a pacemaker. Later, he survived a bout with cancer. Cleofas and Geri moved to Virginia in 2017 so that Geri would be with her daughter Angelina, and thusly closer to kidney dialysis. Geraldine passed in December 2021 where after he came to live with his daughter Alison at her home in Highland. Although his health was deteriorating, he still attended church, had his occasional pastrami sandwich from The Hat after his haircut at Joe’s Barbershop, enjoyed his Fritos and occasionally his See’s candy. Cleofas worked for the U.S Postal Service, Alside Aluminum Siding, and was employed for approximately 21 years by Safeway Stores.
He passed, surrounded by his family and his first wife Emily. He died at approximately 9pm on August 8, 2024.
