Charlene Ann DeBranch
Charlene Ann DeBranch, 72, passed away on September 4, 2009. She currently resided in Highland but had been a resident of the San Bernardino area for over 62 years.
Charlene was born in Berwyn, Illinois and moved to San Bernardino in 1947 where she attended San Bernardino High School. She graduated from California State University, San Bernardino in 1967 and began teaching with the Rialto Unified School District at Bemis Elementary. Then, in 1982, she received her Master’s Degree in Education.
Her high school years were lasting. In 1955, Charlene graduated from San Bernardino High School, where she formed lifetime friendships that became part of her family. She spoke often of Rosie & Bob, Kay & Bruce, Alice & John, and Bobbie. Her family and friends will truly miss her. Charlene loved to travel with friends, her trips with Melba, Robin, Sarajane, Kay, and Lauren were very special times.
As a teacher and educator, her career spanned 30 years and culminated with her retirement in 1997 as Principal of Milor High School in Rialto. She then began her second career as a coordinator for Student Teacher Programs for Chapman University and for the University of Iowa, she also continued to assist the Rialto School District in her spare time.
Charlene was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Richard. She is survived by her two sons, Steve DeBranch and his wife Tonya of Bakersfield, and, Mark DeBranch and his wife Laura of La Verne. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren Bryan, Lauren, Brad, Collin, Cameron, Carter, and Claire. A special thank you to Sarajane, Mom’s friend and confidant of 40 years.
Memorial Services are pending. Interment will be private at Mt. View Cemetery.
