Cecilia Resendez's Obituary
Cecilia Resendez (June 29, 1947 - Feb. 13. 2026) died peacefully surrounded by family after she succumbed to Acute Myeloid Leukemia discovered a month earlier. She lived an active life with a number of careers, while also focusing on her immediate and extended family. In every family there is one person everyone gravitates to and is the center of the action. Cecilia was that person for this family.
Cecilia held a number of jobs and over the years was employed by the San Bernardino School District, the U.S. Census, Congressman George E, Brown, Jr. and Assemblyman Terry Goggin. She was also active in several political campaigns, including Democratic Presidential campaigns and served as a delegate to the 1984 Democratic Convention. She was also active in Mayor Tom Bradley’s campaigns for Governor. In recent years she established and ran an antique and collectibles business and was often seen at the Rose Bowl Swap Meet where she was a vendor for over 20 years.
While raising a large family and working demanding jobs, Cecilia earned an AA degree from San Bernardino Valley College and a B.A. degree from the University of Redlands. She was involved as a volunteer in a wide variety of community activities and found time to help friends who needed a surrogate family in their lives.
Cecilia is survived by her 97-year-old mother, Ramona Urena of Highland, who after Covid lived in North Hollywood with Cecilia and Cecilia’s husband of 42 years, Tim Lynch. Cecilia is also survived by her son Dennis Moody, John Lightburn, Michael Lightburn, and Jeffrey Hayato Ward and her daughter Kelly Ann Moody. In addition, she has seven grandchildren, Lani Kaholoaa Moody, Alohi Kaholoaa Moody, Dennis Huddy Moody, Timothy Lightburn, Matthew Lightburn, Sophia Lightburn, and Zoe Lightburn."
