Carol Ann Wetzel's Obituary
Carol Ann Wetzel, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Auntie, Sister and Friend passed away peacefully in San Bernardino, California on April 20th, 2026, at the age of 84. Carol was born in San Francisco, California on June 13, 1941, to Reaford and Margaret Hendrix. She grew up in Los Angeles and went to grammar school at Ascension and high school at St. Mary’s Academy.
Carol met Ronald Wetzel at church and became acquainted during choir practice. They married in 1960 and shared 48 wonderful years together, before his passing in October of 2008. In addition to the loss of her husband, Ron, she was preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, Joey Hendrix.
Carol enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed cooking for family and friends; her appreciation of people’s lives and stories gave her great joy. She dabbled in the floral business and became an excellent designer. Carol also took art classes and created some lovely artwork. Her very favorite hobby was collecting Christmas decorations, and she took great pride in decorating and creating every Christmas.
She volunteered her time at the Redlands Bowl Summer Music Festival beginning in 2010, where she assisted in the office as needed. She eventually became a paid employee who helped as an attendant at receptions and other activities, decorating, organizing the kitchen, and sitting at the evening information table assisting Bowl guests.
Carol is survived by her brother Tommy Hendrix, her children Kristi Marnell, Kari Kuttler and Michael Wetzel along with her Grandchildren Mary Kate Marnell, Christian Wetzel and Rachel Wetzel whom she loved so well, and were her pride and joy.
She will be greatly missed by her family and friends because of how she touched their lives in some way throughout her very memorable life.
A mass will be held at St. Adelaide Catholic Church at 27457 Base Line Street, Highland, California at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. A reception following the mass will be held at the Spring Lake Clubhouse at 6892 Cloverhill Drive, Highland, California. Food and beverages will be provided. Dates and time may be subject to change.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made to the charity of your choice in her honor. Carol was partial to the Redlands Bowl Performing Arts and Family Service Association in Redlands, California.
