Carmelo Peter Cacciola's Obituary
Carmelo P. Cacciola, 83, passed Friday, August 12, 2011 at his Calimesa home. Born in East Hartford, Connecticut, Chuck lived in Calimesa for 10 years. Previously he lived in Yucaipa for 22 years.
As a young man he served his country in the United States Air Force. After his service, he returned to work on the family farm.
On vacation in Florida, he met the love of his life, Norma Jean, who he married shortly thereafter. They were married for 52 years until Norma's death in 2002. Chuck worked at San Bernardino Valley College for 25 years, retiring in 1988 as Chief Engineer of KVCR TV and Radio Station. After retirement he and Norma enjoyed many years of traveling in their motor home visiting family and friends.
Chuck is survived by his five children: Charles and Ellen Cacciola of Los Osos, Anthony Cacciola of Calimesa, William and Kathy Cacciola of Spring Hill, FL, Elizabeth and Ron Sotomayor of Yucaipa, and Julie and Ed Preston of Mentone. He is also survived by his sister, Josephine Bormacoff, of Healdsburg, and 16 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and extended family and friends.
Services will be Thursday, August 18th at 10 am at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Avenue, San Bernardino.
Reception to follow at 2 pm at Plantation on the Lake in Calimesa. Interment will be private.
