Mrs Betty Rae Vargas' Obituary
Betty R. Vargas, 88, a resident of San Bernardino since 1939, was born on Feb 19, 1927, in Decatur, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her husband R.A. Vargas, MD and is survived by his 5 children including son Roger ‘Nick’ Vargas, niece Penny Jo Kohnert and her two children Robert and Rebecca.
Betty attended Colton Grade Schools, graduated from Colton High School in 1945, was a graduate of Mercy College and Nursing in San Diego and received her graduate degree from Catholic University of America in Washington DC. She was a registered nurse for 30 years and taught nursing at Valley College for 13 years. Since 1999, she was an active member of Child Advocacy programs in San Bernardino.
She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church, where she served in various capacities and was on their bowling team. She was a charter member of Audio Vision in Yucaipa, reading for the radio station for the blind, and a former member of Toastmasters #4202.
Interment will be private.
