I was lucky to live next door to Betty for twenty years. I couldn't have asked for a better neighbor. I always enjoyed talking to her. She always asked how my family and I were doing. She could always be counted on to "tell it like it is". One time I had painted a wall on the outside of my house. It was blue. She told me it looked like the color you would paint a baby boy's room. She was right. I repainted it and it looked much better. Her honesty and candor were just two of her many fine qualities. On many occasions we would both be our backyards and she would ask me if wanted some cookies or some other treat she had made. They were always delicious. She would even remember what I liked and didn't like.
I sure will miss Betty. Fremontia won't be the same without her. My condolences go out to the Olin family.
