BARBARA JUDITH SUKENIK's Obituary
Barbara Judith Sukenik passed away May 29, 2009. She was born July 17, 1935 in New York City to Harry and Helyn Lefkowitz. She grew up in Oklahoma City where she met her husband through a family friend and was married at the age of 18. They lived in Chicago, Oklahoma City, San Diego, Gainesville, and Kansas City before settling in Redlands, CA. She worked several years at the VA Hospital in Loma Linda. Barbara was active in the community, serving as the President of the League of Women Voters. One could always call her regarding the issues before the elections. She and her husband were active in the Redlands Jewish Club and she loved to play Mah Jongg and talk about her grandchildren. Upon retirement Barbara and Bob moved to Palm Desert, CA. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert Sukenik, children Diane Jurewicz (Ray) of Pittsburgh, Debra Aronoff (Philip) of San Diego, Julie Taylor (Jerry) of Virginia, and Howard Sukenik (Cheryl) of Redlands. Grandchildren Aaron, Matt, Adam, Scott, Allison, Leah, Nicole and David and her sister, Sue Adler, of Norfolk. Services will be held Tuesday June 2, at 11:00 am, at Home of Eternity Cemetery. 803 Sierra Way. San Bernardino.
